The Nelson Downriver Race is intended for anyone interested in canoe or kayak racing - from novices to national champions. Our goal is to promote recreation, conservation and sportsmanship through paddling rivers and lakes in and around Nelson County, Virginia.

The amazing Blue Family recruit 3 generations of Tom Blues to power the only OC3 entry in the race. Action at Rock Pile Rapid. Veteran champion racer, Dave Dolak, slices a gash in his boat on Cutter Rock in Rockpile Rapid. Ed Sharp and Kirk Havens try a more "interesting" route through Rockpile Rapid. Despite mishaps and misadventures the Nelson Downriver Race crowd is always there to cheer you on.
